05/09/11: Long Beach Councilmember Robert Garcia, center, along with Downtown Long Beach Associates, Kraig Kojian, left, and architect Brian Ulaszewski, right, announce major progress on the Armory Park project in the sculpture garden of the Pacific Island Ethnic Art Museum in Long Beach on Monday, May 9, 2011. The Saint Anthony neighborhood has long lacked park space, and the intersection of MLK, 7th and Alamitos is recognized as the CityÕs most dangerous. A park at this location, near the United States Armory building and adjacent to MOLAA, would address both these issues. The proposed 'Armory Park' project has encountered funding and logistical issues in the past.
