07/27/07- Do you think the city should remove the breakwater? Why or why not?

LADD: I would just like to see an alternate way to clean up the beach other than just wash it out into the ocean. I think if we can find a better environmental solution than tearing down the breakwater, so we wash away our problems, that would be good.
SIBLEY: I like to kite surf here and the breakwater keeps the water flat so you don't have to deal with the waves. It's a great spot to learn. So that's one reason to keep it up. But again the water is pretty polluted and it's not the safest place to swim. It's pretty well known that people get sick here, given the water. So, if I were to weigh out those two things I would say get rid of the breakwater and let the pollution clean up, if that were the only two things I were considering.
