LONG BEACH - 07/28/2011 - (Staff Photo/Scott Varley) The International Seafarers Center at the Port of Long Beach is a home away from home for ships crews during layovers while in port. Shuttle vans bring crew members to the center where they can play games, have internet access, make phone calls home, read and worship. They are also shuttled to downtown for shopping excursions. The center relies on donations and have been struggling in recent years to stay open. They are planning a fundraiser onboard the Queen Mary on September 8.
