La Strada Pin-up girls
LONG BEACH, CALIF. -- Jaime Nikoletich, Miss April, center, her sister, Callie Nikoletich, left, and Rachel Campbell, Miss November, right, share a laugh as they read notes to the troops signed inside their pin-up calendars at La Strada Restaurant on Second Street in Long Beach, Calif. on Monday, January 4, 2010.
La Strada owner Lisa Ramelow created the calenders to benefit pancreatic cancer but when she had over a thousand left over she decided to send them to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Each calendar is signed by at least one of the girls and a customer of the eatery. She has received hundreds of letters of thanks from American warriors including a flag that was carried in battle in Iraq.
The calendars feature her employees, and daughters, dressed as 1950s ear pin-up girls.
