10-07-10 - Long Beach Firefighters Association members demonstrate at Long Beach Fire Station No. 1 in protest of the first day of browned-out service there. Station 1's fire engine will be shut down for 24 hours in its downtown coverage area, which includes 52 high-rise buildings in the area from Ocean Boulevard to Eighth Street and the Los Angeles River to 850 E. Ocean Blvd. An ambulance and a ladder truck will remain in service at the station. The "rolling brownouts" of rotating engine closures at seven fire stations began last Friday because of budget cuts at City Hall. Thursday October 7 2010.
