Los Cerritos third grader participated for the fourth year in the Bonnie Plants Cabbage Program that began in February with the planting of the seedlings provided by Bonnie Plants and harvesting them on Friday, June 5, 2009. From the 80 third grader, the student with the heaviest from each of the four classes will advance to the state level and will match-up against other third graders for a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship. Students who wish not to keep their cabbages had the opportunity to donate their hard work to the local Food Finder to help feed individuals with unfavorable circumstances.
