Long Beach City Council person Suja Lowenthal,left, and Long beach May Bob Foster, center, welcome Captain Rusli ( traditionally no last name used ) of the Royal Malaysian Navy Brigantine ship Tunas Samudera, docked in Rainbow Harbor. They were welcomed by The tall ships Lady Washington, Exy Johnson and Hawaiian Chieftain. The Chieftain and Washington are both replicas of 18th century trade vessels will stay for a 17-day visit to Long Beach. During their stay, local schoolkids can participate in harbor cruises and maritime academies. The public is also being invited to attend for tours and learning workshops aboard the ships throughout the visit. The Chieftain is an exact replica of a ship built in 1750 in the British
Colony of Massachusetts. The Washington is a recreation of a
late-18th/early-19th century trade ship commonly used along the east and west coasts of the U.S. and in Europe.
